Paul began studying the piano at age 6 and never stopped playing! He was fortunate to have a teacher that at an early age recognized Paul had the gift to "play by ear" and helped him develop the necessary beginning skills. As a youth he studied classical and pop and in college studied Jazz Piano and Composition at Roosevelt University's Chicago Musical College.

Paul's career as a solo artist/pianist began at Washington Square Restaurant in Naperville, IL, where he entertained thousands of people over the 5 years he appeared there. Also in Naperville, he performed at Montparnasse for 2 years. In addition he spent 1 & 1/2 years entertaining in Chicago. 6 months at Surf n' Turf which was located at the corner of State and Kinzie, and 1 year at Cafe Luciano on Rush Street near Chestnut.
